January 2026 Character Art Class Updates
The start of the new year is a great time for young artists to reset, refocus, and build confidence in their creative skills.
It’s also a great time for our Character Art Class to evolve from a pilot program into a full class offering.
In our Character Art Class, students don’t just learn how to draw — they learn how to think like artists, storytellers, and designers.

This month, we continued to develop strong fundamentals in character construction, expression, and visual storytelling, while encouraging each student to explore their own ideas and creative voice. Whether a student is just beginning or already loves to draw characters at home, our classes are designed to meet them where they are and help them grow step by step.
Below is our January 2026 Character Art Class newsletter, which was sent to local families to share updates and learning goals. If you’re new here and curious about how our kids art classes work, this is a great snapshot of what we focus on and why it matters.

If you’re a parent looking for a kids art class, afterschool art program, or homeschool art enrichment in the Ames, Iowa area, our Character Art Class is designed to support young artists at multiple skill levels in a structured but encouraging environment.
We welcome students from Ames and surrounding communities, including Nevada, Boone, Story City, Cambridge, and Huxley, making this a practical option for families within driving distance who are seeking high-quality creative education outside of standard school hours.
Our classes focus on:
Drawing fundamentals and character design
Creativity, imagination, and visual storytelling
Skill-building appropriate for both afterschool and homeschool schedules
A positive, small-group learning atmosphere
Whether your child is new to drawing or already passionate about creating characters and stories, this program offers consistent instruction and guided practice to help them grow in confidence and ability over time.
Families interested in enrollment, schedules, or availability are encouraged to reach out for more information or view current class offerings.
